Danielle Beaulieu AIA, LEED AP BD+C is a licensed architect, principal and founder of - lieu. Armed with a vision and a decade of experience she has embarked on a journey to do meaningful, impactful work across all building types, scales, and communities.

An optimist with loads of ambition, Danielle sees opportunity in every challenge. She’s happiest when she is outside of her comfort zone. Her innate creativity, organizational & analytic abilities, determination, and humble confidence allow her to conquer any challenge at hand and produce thoughtful designs. Her balance of professionalism with a sense of humor lays the foundation for a fun, collaborative experience.

During her 7 year tenure at John Ronan Architects she worked on a diverse range of institutional, cultural, and residential projects including the award-winning IIT Innovation Center, Independence Library and Apartments, Obama Presidential Center and the Courtyard House. Other projects included the University of Chicago Rubenstein Forum, McCormick Place Event Center, Jefferson Park Cultural Center, Kedzie Terminal, Guggenheim Helsinki, and The Erie Serpent amongst others.

At JRA she honed her architectural skills with a thorough commitment to detail in order to achieve a larger vision and thoughtful design. She worked on projects through all phases of marketing, programming, design, and construction administration. Danielle feels equally comfortable in the studio or city hall as she does on the job site.

While attending school at the University of Michigan to receive her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Master of Architecture with High Distinction, Danielle developed an interest in examining the relationship between the built & natural environment and social behavior in urban public spaces. She believes everyone deserves good design and understands the positive impact it can have on an individual and a community.

Danielle is a committed lifelong learner and finds importance in keeping one foot in practice and one foot in academia. She taught studio at Kent State University and often serves as an invited critic at schools throughout the country.

Melanie Monastirsky is an astute architectural designer with over six years of experience and a natural eye for design.

Through her work in interior architecture, Melanie has experience in working through details to achieve beautiful and functional spaces while exploring lighting and materials to bring an element of surprise, delight, or awareness. Melanie brings this experience and sensitivity to design at all scales.

She spent four years at Slade Architecture in New York City working through all phases of design on various projects including: multi-residential amenities, private residences and Gowanus Houses Community Center. Prior to Slade, she worked on high-end residential at STA Architectural Group in Miami, Florida. Her diverse background yields a unique perspective in her design work.  

Born and raised in Argentina, Melanie is a native Spanish speaker. She holds a Master in Architecture, Art and Planning from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During her time at Cornell, Melanie was a teaching assistant for two courses, a teaching associate for a summer program and contributed to the Venice Biennale 2018.
